Governor Kemp has signed in new legislation, which will be effective July 1, 2025. What does this mean for you.

The Georgia Self Storage Association went to the state capital with the goal of updating our current lien laws. This new law removes the requirement for self storage operators to place an ad in the paper during auction proceedings. This also effectively shortens the auction timeline by one week.

This legislation has passed in 32 other states. Tennessee notably passed this a few years ago. Florida did introduce this legislation this past session, however it did not pass.
